About this item

  • Product Info: This plant is an heirloom selected rose cultivar, known by the common name, Seven Sisters. It is a starter-sized plant with an approximately 4-inch-diameter root zone and will be at least 6 to 8 inches tall. Starter-size plants are intended for a gardener to plant and grow to their finished mature size.
  • About this Rose: Seven Sisters is an exceptionally resilient, low maintenance, fast growing climbing rose that blooms once per year in the Spring. It is a popular and highly sought after heirloom and collectors' favorite.
  • Flowers: Seven Sisters produces boughs and small to mid-sized fragrant flowers one per year in the late Spring to early Summer. The flowers are born on long, arching, thorny canes. The name 'Seven Sisters' relates to the seven shades of color of the flowers which range from almost white through several shades of pink and carmine.
  • Growth Habit: Seven Sisters is a fast, agressive grower that produces very long arching, flexible, canes lined with medium sized, closely spaced thorns. Limbs can reach out 10 to 15 feet if allowed to grow free and sprawl. Buds form on new growth, so prune significantly to maintain size and shape after flowering and avoid pruning in late Fall and Winter .
  • Light Needs: Roses need the full spectrum of light for at least 5 to 6 hours daily. Young starter plants should be acclimated to their permanent full sun locations gradually to avoid burning and excessive drying. Plants will grow in light to moderate shade, but bloom and overall health and vigor are reduced in proportion to decreases in available light.
  • Indoor Growing: Indoor Growing: No. Roses are not suitable or recommended for growing indoors. They do not adapt easily to indoor growing conditions, and typically will decline rapidly and fail to thrive in average indoor environments.
  • Climate: For Temperate Climates. Recommended for USDA Zones 6, 7, 8, 9. Plant early in the season in Zones 6 and 7 and mulch heavily ahead of first freeze until very well established.
